Introduction
A fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital’s Department of Plastic and Oral Surgery provides a wealth of training opportunities. Our department is one of the largest pediatric plastic and oral surgery centers in the country with 12 full-time surgeons, performing over 2,000 operations annually.
Our Program Offers:
Vast, specialized experience: Our faculty have over 175 years of combined experience in Plastic and Oral Surgery and includes many alumni of the BCH Cleft and Craniofacial Fellowship. On average, our faculty have been in practice for 14 years, focusing solely on Plastic and Oral Surgery in children and young adults.
Training by experts and leaders: You will learn from nationally and internationally recognized experts in the field. Our faculty are on the cutting edge of clinical care, employing computer-assisted surgical planning, developing novel treatments for vascular anomalies, and creating innovative devices to treat craniofacial anomalies.
Rich research opportunities: Research in our department encompasses a range of disciplines, from bench science, to translational and clinical research. Our fellows routinely publish research in major plastic surgery and craniofacial journals under the mentorship of the faculty.
Unrivaled depth and breadth: As part of the No. 1 pediatric hospital in the US, we not only see a high clinical volume, but we also treat an unrivaled variety of cases. In addition to our Cleft and Craniofacial Center, our department is also home to the Adolescent Breast Center (the first of its kind), the Center for Gender Surgery (largest pediatric gender program), the Vascular Anomalies Center, the Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery Program, Facial Reanimation Program, and Lymphedema Program.
