Vascular Anomalies:
Post-doctoral Research Fellowship
The Plastic Surgery/Vascular Anomalies Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will study vascular anomalies in the Department’s basic science laboratory. The fellow receives funding for 12 to 24 months. This fellowship is targeted to physicians interested in a career in academic plastic surgery.
The Fellow will work closely with Dr. Arin Greene. Dr. Greene’s research focuses on vascular anomalies and lymphedema. In the laboratory, his group is investigating how vascular anomalies enlarge in order to develop drug treatments. His team has discovered the somatic mutation responsible for different types of vascular anomalies, and they are investigating how these mutations affect cellular behavior. They are also developing models of vascular anomalies to test the ability of drugs to prevent their formation and growth.
In the clinic and operating room, Dr. Greene’s research focuses on how to improve the management of patients with vascular anomalies and lymphedema. He is delineating the clinical features and treatment of vascular anomalies based on their molecular origins. He also has ongoing projects to characterize phenotypes of lymphedema as well as to study the influence of obesity, liposuction, and lymphoscintigraphy on the disease.
